Finally fixed squeak on 93 grand cherokee
I purchased a 93 grand cherokee from my mom back in 09 and I have done my fair share of repairs on it since I got it from her. It has the 5.2 and had the quadratrac transfer case in it when I got it. The viscous coupler was bad and I have a friend that owed me a favor that run's a 4x4 shop with a good used 231 transfer case that he swapped out for me for a good price. After that just the normal repairs like brakes and had to replace the radiator, water pump, and fan clutch and thermostat. Done a tune up on it awhile back and last year had to replace the map sensor and the TPS. It's a good old jeep and could use a paint job at this point and it has had a squeak in the interior for awhile, it wasn't that bad to begin with but lately it's been bad. Like having a dolphin riding in the back seat!! I never really liked working on the interior of car's since it's all plastic and easy to break but I started pulling the inside cover off of the very back on the passenger side and found the squeak. The seatbelt mechanism only has one bolt holding it to the body and on the top part it just hooks in and the hooks have worn over time and as the jeep moves the seatbelt mechanism moves and squeaks on the body. I decided to try and tightened the hooks over the body but that didn't work so I bent the hooks to the outside and tapped them flat against the body and drilled holes and put two #8 screws into them and the body and no more noise back there now!! I really wish I would have looked into it sooner since it wasn't that bad of a fix but i'm bad about putting stuff off like annoying noises and minor stuff like that.....
