grill mod . suggestion?

Hi. First jeep thread here. Wanting to paint my grill on 96 g.c. laredo a black.
Not decided yet on a flat black or more glossy. Jeep is a forest green. (Not
commited to painting whole body for TOTAL blackout look.
Tailights painted with Nightshades™ black transclucent paint already.
This is just a daily driver/hauler! (Also trying to conceal a miss-drill when.
installing driving lites above bumper.)

So.... Flat black or a Glossy black ? Thanks for feedback!!

Re: grill mod . suggestion?

why dont you try plasti dip? many people have and its easy! if you dont like it you can always remove it. it sprays on almost a flat color but it also has a glossifier which makes it more of a gloss. use the search button up top there are so many plasti dip threads here.

Thanks for reply, akimball. That stuff seems to be a favorite. I'll give it some thought.
How much does plasti dip run per can? On a budget and just a DIY guy looking for a quick and easy mod.

Re: grill mod . suggestion?

Plasti dip is pretty reasonable. I think it's like 5-7 bucks a can at Lowes/Home depot. At least it was a few months ago when we bought it.

Hi. Thanks for all the advice on changing my 96 g.c. laredo grill.
I found i like the flat look. Got some cheap 96˘ flat black from Walmart.
After the 7 mos. of MN winter are over i think i will do it right with some BBQ Black on my same grille or grab from scrapyard.

Not sure if pics came out but here are the results.

Re: grill mod . suggestion?

If you go get another grill, get one that is from a limited (won't be chrome). Then you can sand off the clear coat and paint it and it will last a lot longer. I painted a chrome one once and it didn't take long before the chrome started showing through.

Good idea, man. I didnt do a clear coat on top of my flat black yet but, yeah, the paint doesnt stay on chrome very well.
Does the limited grill install the same as laredo?

Re: grill mod . suggestion?

Yes. Just make sure you get one that matches your year (93-95 or 96-98).
