Interior Woodgrain Delete (w/ pics)
I freaking hate woodgrain. I can think of few things I loathe more than woodgrain. I dunno who came up with the notion that it looks "classy" or "upscale", but I'd like to hook them up to life support so I can kill them and then resuscitate them so I can kill them numerous times.
As such, I decided the wood grain needed to go in my Platinum Niner. I didn't take a lot of photos of the process but I attached the finished product. Used Duplicolor Perfect Match (paint code PS4/MS4) and lots of clear coat on top.
The only pieces that were tricky were the glove box trim piece and the door panel pieces. The glove box piece has an adhesive on it as well as the three screws. I used a heat gun and putty knife to slowly pry it off.
The door panels have like 7 plastic welds on the back side. I used a 1/4" (or what it 3/8"?) drill bit break the welds. I then went to ace and got some self-tapping screws and washers to screw them back on once painted. Not difficult, there is a little plastic stud that is perfect for it.
Here are the pics. I will answer any questions you might have.
