Overfilling is not good for most of the transmissions. When too full, the moving parts will mix air in the fluid, air bubbles will enter the lines and the clutches/bands holding power will be lower (same idea as when you have air in your brake lines), resulting in slipping clutches/bands.
That the fluid is not burned is a good sign, but when you have a slipping clutch/band, the fluid can get burned rapidly. Do you know if it slips already in first gear, or maybe only in second?

Re: My transmission slips sometimes

I believe it slips in first gear, when the jeep is hot it seems to stop slipping. It is like the transmission fluid in not circulating properly. Or like you said its air pound is that possible.

Re: My transmission slips sometimes

If the level is too high, i would correct that first and see from there. Do you always check the level with engine running, transmission hot and shift lever in N?

I believe the tranny itself should have a metal tag on it, too, if the door tags don't list it.

Re: My transmission slips sometimes

Don't worry, hope you are doing fine.
Did you already try to put the shift lever in 1st and see if it will slip as well. The problem could have to do with rigging.

Re: My transmission slips sometimes

Did you already get it scanned to see if there is any fault code stored? Several things can go wrong and cause the transmission to slip, even wrong adjustments.
If you want to go for a rebuild, a master rebuild kit normally has all the clutches/bands and all necessary seals to rebuild the transmission. The manhours for a rebuild are the most expensive part. Probably better to look for a used low milage unit in that case.
