Viscous Couper is most likely bad. Common on high mileage ZJ's. The only other thing that would cause some binding is have upgraded U-joint's in your front axle.
Just thought I'd expand on this a bit -
Bad viscous coupler will make your Jeep behave like a regular old 4wd when in AWD (QuadraTrac)- you'll get that wheel hop while turning on dry pavement.
New ujoints will make it feel stiff, like hound mentioned, but you shouldnt get that ”hop"
