Still In Love With The Ex!
In 1999 I bought a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the factory tow and skid plate package, 318 V8, leather and most all the bells and whistles. It was that iridescent silver with a hint of purple in the paint. What a gorgeous rig.
The Jeep had originally been sold in Quebec, Canada and the odometer had to be changed out by a certified service. It had 42,000 on it when I bought it. That summer I took it on a road trip from my home near Seattle Washington to the NW Territories and back. Combined with a couple of other road trips I put on 5,400 miles that month.
Fifteen years latter and still running strong with 265,000 miles on it we gave the Jeep to our oldest grandson last Christmas. Of course we replaced it with another Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. A 2012 this time with 11,000 miles on it and a fire-breathing Hemi under the hood.
This past weekend as I watched my grandson drive away with a couple of his buddies in his Jeep I came close to tears. Not because of the poignant moment, but because I realized I was still in love with my old jeep.
