t- case question

ok so i was just looking up some info on the v/c in my t-case it is getting alot worse and i need to get it changes out but every whare i go tells me i will be better off just swaping the t-case out insted of replaceing the v/c so here is the question i know a guy that has a 94 grand cherokie with the select track will that t-case bolt up to mine this way i can shift it in and out of 4x4 ill have 2hi part time 4hi full time 4hi and 4lo can you all give me some info on all of this also i do have that 5.2 so if i am going to replace my t-case i only want to do it one time and not have to do it again when i do the motor swap later this fall

What year is your ZJ? The 242 swap is common and the 5.2 is far from enough power to hurt it. It will bolt up but depending on what year your jeep is you may have other problems.

1993 was kind of a stand alone year. The t-case will bolt up but you may have driveshaft length problems. Get the driveshaft out of the doner jeep just incase. You will also need the shifter plate from the doner jeep so you know what position your t-case is in.

the input shafts were also different... didnt matter what year, tranny, case motor... pretty much, it is safe to say they are all either one or the other..
point being you may find a 249 from a straight six that will bolt up to your v8.. another time you might not find a correct length 242 from a I6 that will bolt up to ur 8.. am i makin any sense here??

and x2 on the driveshafts..

yup you are but i have somthing better i am looking for a trans for a 93 with a 5.2 i just got a hole jeep for just about free well not cost to me but this truck is mint youll see it in my other posts
