17 inch rims and tyres for off-road

Hi all!

I'm looking at getting a second set of wheels for my GC, the stock tyres did well up at Fraser Island but i'd like a smoother ride with better grip.

I tow a Jayco Swann and i'm thinking of 17 inch rims as someone told me tyres are cheaper (not cheap tyres!) than 18's.

Any info would be appreciated!

Cheers
Gerry

They won’t fit over your brakes. The 18s are the smallest rim to fit over the HD brakes that are standard on Aus GCs.

And yours would be????? The Aus spec WK2 all come with heady duty brakes as standard, as such the min spec is 18"

My2014 limited. In Perth WA. The rims are a custom to suit but definitely 17". My spare (for when I am using these rims) is a wrangler 17" that only fits on the rear.

Re: 17 inch rims and tyres for off-road

I do believe I can get 17's at the right offset to fit Aus spec cars. Murchison offroad is/ was running 17's.
