Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel

Not sure if this issue has been resolved seeing as it was a while ago but my dealership replaced the injector and did software updates. The main software update affecting this was telling the computer to wait till the engine got up to temp before attempting a Regen. I haven't had any issues since doing this.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel

After going to 3 dealerships with no results, and got tired of paying money on something that I couldnt always drive and enjoy I traded it in. I had mentioned many times a system update, because I knew it wasnt a mechanical issue. Couldn't find a dealership to do it for me in my area without me driving 4+ hours to a major city and dropping it off. I didnt have that time or money to deal with it. Glad you got yours fixed, I loved mine minus the issue.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel

The only problem I have had with DEF is when I tried another brand. I received a message saying it was incompatible and the engine would not start after 500 miles. I put Mopar DEF in and the message went away. I kept having my check engine light come on and they did about 4 computer revisions/flash. Have not had any further problems.

And have been doing oil changes at every 5k miles since new... No computer generated error messages at all other than low DEF and that car will not start in 600 miles or so.... Once i put in Autozone's DEF I am good.. No error messages either. 2.5 gallons for about $17 and some change.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel

At least you are getting the warning. What is happening in the colder climates is that none of these engines are working hard enough to even regen. The trucks are worse then the jeeps. What the are recommending to me is that once a month when I am on the highway for a least a half hour is to drop a couple gears and get the rpm around 3500. If the filters delta p (pressure differential) is to high (plugged) then you can create a regen to clean it. Should only take about 20 minutes. The problem so far is that if the conditions aren't met for a regen the filter will plug before you get a notification. Check engine light goes on and it will go into limp mode. A bit frustrating to say the least. The 8 speed under normal driving conditions for me won't work the engine hard enough so I will have to create the proper conditions to keep the filter clean. Wish there was a delta p sensor so I know when to blow the carbon out, lol. Last time I did it the economy wasn't even that bad at 3500 rpm so it's just a matter of remembering. The mechanic said he is actually cleaning out the guts of the filter on vehicles for off warranty trucks and they aren't having any issues. Would be illegal in a few areas do to emissions I imagine.

Sounds like the other manufactures are also having or have had these issues.

Love my Jeep though.

Have had the JGC Ecodiesel since last November.

I have never seen a regen or dpf related message ever.

I drove 10,300 miles to get the oil change indicator from new down to 3%.

This vehicle loves the highway!

I was curious on how much oil changes are for jeep diesels? I went to a place check for some tires and ask them how much they were. They said with oil change with filter and a def fluid fill. It was $250. I was shocked. What is everybody else paying?
