Camshaft Sensor

The Check Engine light has been off and on for about a month on my 2008 Jeep WK CRD - and the code is saying it's the camshaft position sensor. Dealership wants $500+ to replace ---- has anyone attempted this themselves on the CRD? I can find the part for about $150, but fear it may be one of those situations where you just can't get the right tool to reach the sensor to replace. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Thanks.
