Check engine/glow plug problem

I have a 2007 3.0 diesel Grand Cherokee. The problem I am having is that the check engine light comes on. I ran a scan and the code P0172 came up.It is a curcuit code cyl. 2 glow plug. Changed the glow plug and still having the same problem. Could it be the #2 glow plug instead of cyl. #2 glow plug? It is my understanding that #2 glow plug is not on the #2 cyl. I noticed when I start the car the glow plug light goes off and when the car starts it goes back on for a instant then remains off.

have a read of this thread
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/c...50/index2.html

the first thing to do is make sure you know where #2 cylinder (glow plug) really is, it is not as simple as most would think.

the second thing that most owners report is that if the same glow plug fails twice, then its the glow plug module that is defective.

the third thing that most owners reports is that you need to replace a failed glow plug immediately because it seems the glow plug module overloads the other glow plugs when one fails. overloading the other glow plugs will cause other glow plugs to burn out in short order.

Re: Check engine/glow plug problem

bump

glow plug failed ages ago, not sure when but only found out when a computer was plugged in.

however i cannot see that grey cap that everyone is talking about, all i see is grey star shaped nuts.

or some black connectersm 6 of them, look electrical, once one is removed all i see inside are two connectors.

any ideas?
