Re: Grand Cherokee CRD performance thread

I got rid of the turbo lag by replacing the OEM huge baffled muffler and replacing it with a straight thru system and replacing the air cleaner with a K&N Filter. Fuel consumption went from around 10.2l/100k to 9.5's. When the air is cold it will get down to high 8's .

Re: Grand Cherokee CRD performance thread

Getting in and out for sure. There are two 8-point bolts that hold the resonator on and they are in the worst possible positions! The first one is kind of in the middle on the top underneath a belt. The second one is on the bottom again near the middle you'll have to get at this one from either the bottom which i was unsucsessful at. Or the top using an extention and a swivel joint. The 8-point makes it so that the socket will not stay on the nut. I found a pretty good tutorial here http://mbworld.org/forums/diesel-for...y-removal.html if you can try and source an actuall delete for it. I am thinking a simple piece of air to air hose at the right size. I regret not finding one prior to all the work putting it back in.

I also remade my front grill so in total the whole thing took me like 5 hours but most of that was the grill. If your good you could have it done in under an hour.

Re: Grand Cherokee CRD performance thread

hmm thats a good point, wonder if u could just use a hose, and use clamps to hold it in
or get someone to bend a pipe to fit, seems more logical

Re: Grand Cherokee CRD performance thread

I found a part number from a fourm member that works as a CAT meachanic and he found an air-air hose that works. If I can find it again ill post it.

Re: Grand Cherokee CRD performance thread

Just picked up an '08 CRD WK two days ago. Swaped it for my '09 JK. Just couldn't pass it up. Did the muffler chop today for $40 bucks at a local muffler shop. Got to love the sound of a turbo diesel! I want more what should be next?

What is the "big 3" upgrade. Larger turbo? 3 inch exahust?
"Yes, I already chopped the muffler" quote to wife from ealier tonight!
Took 30 min and $40 to get out the door. It also had a drop in K&N filter in it when I got it.
Has anyone tried these:

what about water-methanol injection also? Anyone tried it on their wk?

It is not too much louder but you can now hear the exhaust tone and a little more turbo noise, throttle response seems better, its a must do for the price.
Do the wk's have grounding problems? Are there problems running after market electronics (aux lights, winch, sterio ect..)?
