How long to start 3.0 CRD

Hi
I have just bought a 3.0 CRD Ltd exe Grand Cherokee. All works well exept I have a worry about starting in the mornings. Engine cranks for up to 10 seconds before starting . Heater lamp comes on and gos out after a few seconds befor I try to start, (temp in mornings is about 12 degrees c) Handbook says it can take up to 30 seconds in very cold weather. The rest of the day no problems fire first turn.

regards

Sounds like a Little leak in the fuel pressure System
Check the fuel Lines and tubes

Yes it does smoke I thought this might be the fuel that had built up whilst it ws trying to start. It runs clean after the intial belt of smoke.

I have the same problem, I think it's a glowplug problem on mine, but I haven't had the time to look...

Thanks for the imfo I was thinking like that but expected to get some form of error code. My dealer is about 100 miles away so I was trying to get as much info as possible before driving over there just for him to tell me he cant find anything wrong unless I leave the Jeep with him, and then he can start to build up his holiday fund for next year.

Re: How long to start 3.0 CRD

read my codes today, no CEL but gives glow plug modul fault.

If it was fuel pressure related it would also do it when warm.
