Can you point me to the right area under the hood please. As I have looked for it to many times to count and I can not find it. Thanks

Re: Jeep OM642 CRD Performance Mod's

Thanks. Still got a long way to go. The kidney resonator is right in front of the engine behind the radiator. It's in all OM642 WK CRD's. Look right under the upper radiator hose.
When upgrading the intake pipe you should get a high flow dry air filter and cut the air box intake tube to pull less air off the radiator. See pictures.

Re: Jeep OM642 CRD Performance Mod's

Ok with your pictures in hand (well phone) I went out with my flash light and started looking. I have a solid silicone tubing from the IC to a funny looking box that is shaped like a circle that then goes into another fitting, but I have my engine cover still on and will look with it off. I do have pictures of what is there and I will upload them once I move them over from my phone to my computer. The only thing and I thought this was it, was the power steering box as its kind of shaped like a kidney.

Re: Jeep OM642 CRD Performance Mod's

Help!! I recently changed out all 6 glow plugs and the serpentine belt. To change out the belt I had to take off the turbo resonator. Im now getting the electronic throttle control light and check engine light with codes pointing toward mass air flow sensor and turbo under bost. Ill reread the codes and post them later. Im pretty sure that I have a leak in the turbo tubing. Is there a gasket on the top of the turbo resonator? I think that is where the leak is. I didnt remember seeing a gasket but it was dark when i replaced the belt. Thanks in advance. Mike

Solved

I ended up buying 20 different o rings from all the auto parts stores in the area. One of them worked. It's not perfect but close enough.

Re: Jeep OM642 CRD Performance Mod's

Hi Bud....referring to your thread from last year;

Di you eventually fit the aftermarket intercooler?

I have been looking at the same one and am close to ordering.

I was working on the resonator and charged air hoses while I was home last trip but ran out of time and didn't measure up for a new cooler. I know it was tight down there so I guess some cutting would be needed, or position the cooler lower down?

If you have anything to share such as pictures of the job I would appreciate this, also if you have anything which shows available space down there it would really help. I like to get all the parts purchased online while I am at work (Indonesia) so I can hit the job as soon as I get home

Thanks

Keep up the great posts

Carl

Re: Jeep OM642 CRD Performance Mod's

Haven't been on in awhile. The intercooler has been fit up for about a year now. The performance of the new intercooler is awesome. It's almost better of a mod than a good tune with dpf delete. I have run it stock and with a DPF delete tune. The spool up is unreal almost feels like a na type engine. Had to get used to the quick spool as it would just scream. I was getting about 2-3 mpg improvement. The stock intercooler is tiny,so when putting in the 3" core intercooler you need to cut the bumper support about .5" to get clearance. You really can't move the location because you need to keep the inlets and outlets in line with the piping. I have a bunch of pictures and will try to post some up. I have made some updates to the design and have the latest version in my wife's crd wk. It's easier to install and should have even better flow. I have more info on the other forum, but will try to get more info up on this one.
