Lost the keyless remote.

Hi

I did a stupid thing recentlly and lost one of my JGC my14 keyless remotes.

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what i might be up for for a replacement.

I see Allibaba has something for around $30 but i would have to get the key cut and the dealer would need to programme it as well.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Elvin

Re: Lost the keyless remote.

I recall someone being quoted just under $700 Elvin. Because you need the programming it's probable that local is the way to go. Try Wanneroo... they always seem cheapest here in Perth. It'd also be worth ringing Jeep Kraft to see if they could program a key purchased elsewhere.

I also read some discussion here about programming keys using ignition sequences and aftermarket programmers. I am kicking myself for not making a note of the thread... and unfortunately I don't recall the final upshot of things either.

I have a spare key if you want to try any programming options you may discover.

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Steve

I actually found the keys but this episode has make me more careful where i put them in future.

I will also make some enquiries on cheap key replacement when i get the time and pass on the information to the forum.

It certainly can be an expensive exercise if you do lose a fob.

Re: Lost the keyless remote.

The keys are available on the net, i've ordered a 4btn one with SRT on the back. No idea if it's genuine even if they tell you so. i'll find out once I get it. The emergency blade is ordered separately and needs to cut (by code is best) by a reputable locksmith.

They have to be fitted with what's called a PCF7953 Chip. See the info in the PDF.

I have the tool & software to program these so i'm going to have a go when my stock arrives. I'll let you know.

The biggest issue is getting the immo pin code from your dealer. my programmer says it will pull the pin but I won't know until I try. My Dealer got me my code.

doing the 2011-13's is no problem
