For a while now I've been running with an engine (ECM) and transmission (TCM) tune from Modern Horsepower. Had a lot of time to try it out in a lot of different situations and all in all it's been great. Just cruising around town it's pretty much identical to what it was before but when you drop the hammer it's a totally different Jeep. There's definitely more oomph and the most obvious change is the shifting which is a lot firmer and quicker. As far as I know MHP is the only company out there who has tuned a TCM on a WK CRD.
It's been running great and I'm pretty sure I've had a little boost in mileage but admittedly I haven't been keeping track of the mileage as much as I should be. With the 2" OME lift and running 32" mildly aggressive tires I'm still able to get a good 22-23mpg on the highway at 75mph and probably an extra 1-2mpg now that it's back to summer fuel.
I'm not sure what they would charge since I was the first CRD and was basically the guinea pig. Now that they've had a chance to work with it you would have to contact MHP directly to get all the information. The best thing about it in my opinion is the transmission tune, the shifts make a huge difference in how the vehicle drives. Since I didn't have a chance run the Jeep until I had both the ECM and TCM tune I can't really say how much of a difference each would give separately but combined it's been awesome.
I spoke with Andy and went through a ton of emails with him. He was always professional and very quick to reply. All in all a great guy to deal with. I had to send the TCM back for a few issues but turn around was very quick and it was resolved. The only downside was that I had to remove the TCM/ECM and ship them to MHP but for you guys in the US that probably wouldn't be a big deal since you could overnight there and have MHP overnight back.
