Need help re:electronic power steering and fluid
Hello, hoping someone can help me. I bought a 2014 GC 4x4 with the diesel brand new in Dec 2014, no issues until recently and it has 19000 miles on it.
We moved from California to VA and my GC developed a leak in a transmission fluid line. Had it towed to the nearest Jeep dealership since it's still under warranty. Well, these local boys don't seem to have their act together. One tells me there's no power steering fluid, so that's my problem. Another one said, it has the electronic (electric?)power steering, it doesn't use power steering fluid. At any point, it has the reservoir but it was empty and squeaky clean, obviously never had anything in it! So they added fluid. Does it need this or not? Even the Auto Zone guy says it comes up as NA for power steering fluid. And if not, how do we get the fluid out of there, and why do I have the reservoir?
While in the shop for the transmission line leak, I had them change the oil, etc. I get my Jeep back a week later, drive it home.....and it leaked oil everywhere. I mean everywhere. So back it went to the dealer on a tow truck and I insisted they flush and clean everything. They broke the O ring when installing the new filter. Pretty sure they didn't do anything but wash it with degreasser, it SMELLS horrible. The air filters were oily, so we replaced those ourselves immediately after we got it back last night.
Anything I need to do about any lingering oil getting into any other systems? It's not going back to those yahoos at that dealership. And how do I get rid of this smell? I have wiped it all down, washed the mats and will steam clean the carpet today.
