Question New to Jeep

Hi, all. I recently purchased a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD 3 L MB diesel. I bought it because of the MB diesel. It has 77000 kms on it. That engine is barely broke in. But, due to poor maintenance from the previous owner (too little, too late) I have been experiencing engine leaks. I don't know what else, but, for sure, it had bulk oil, a non-synthetic oil for gas engines. YIKES! Now, this is a very pricy engine if you don't treat it right from the beginning. The oil cooler was leaking and I'm looking at a $3000 repair bill. It isn't covered on warranty as it is a component of the engine (rip off #2). I'm not sure what other damage has been done. I have read about swirl motor issues, etc. This scares me and I'm looking to trade it in. (Unless you guys can give me pointers on it)
I really like the Jeep, though, so I'm looking at a 2010 GC with a 3.7 L gas engine. Can you experienced Jeep owners give me some pointers on the 3.7 L gas engine?

Re: New to Jeep

Thanks. I see you bought the new 2014. Did you consider the new diesel that 2014 brings?

Nope. I have no reason for it nor do I want to deal with that. All SUV vehicles I had were V6. The V6 works great for what I need and has enough get up and go.
