Oil in engine compartment
I just changed the oil in my 2008 GC, CRD. Unfortunately, I'm a moron and I didn't put the oil filter O-ring in the right grove of the filter cap and when I went to drive it, I was spitting oil all over the engine compartment from the oil filter housing. It was so much that the engine oil dip stick was not measuring any oil when I got home. Luckily, I was only a few blocks away from my house. I have since cleaned it as best I can, which consisted of wiping up with rags as much oil as I can see and topped off the oil. At the time of righting this, I have not driven it yet again.
Should I have any concerns with the Jeep running normally with oil on any components in the engine compartment? I'm sure any hot parts will now smoke as any oil will burn off. It looks like the belts and pulleys may have gotten sprayed. Should I take it to a dealer and have them inspect it? What should I be on the look out for?
Is there anything I can do to further clean the engine and compartment?
Hopefully this doesn't qualify me for moron of the year award. Thanks for any help out there.
