Rattling and stalling whilst driving my jeep

In the last 3 weeks, my grand cherokee jeep diesel sometimes starts a rattling noise and then dies on me whilst driving, when I restart it sometimes no problems till the next day or it will do this many times on one journey can anyone give me advice?

Re: Rattling and stalling whilst driving my jeep

i had the same problem afew months ago.i ignore the problem. everything was back to normal. one day it started smoking and went dead my mechanic said i needed a high pressure fuel pump and fuel filter. I live in South america and there are no JEEP dealers in the country, so i am hoping that is the solution.

it would be helpful to know what model year your jeep is and which engine it has.

I would guess the fuel filter needs replacing.
