"Running In" a new Diesel GC

Hi all,

Whats the general consensus on the optimal running in time/distance for a new diesel GC Overland?

I know on the last new car i bought (2004 MINI Cooper S) it was 4500 kms.

Is it the same for this?

Cheers

Re: "Running In" a new Diesel GC

The Diesel Owners manual suggest no heavy load for the first 1,000km, apart from that, nothing special.

This post is probably better of in this section of the forum - 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel 3.0 - Jeep Garage - Jeep Forum

Re: "Running In" a new Diesel GC

what snuke said....In addition to putting under some mild load like driving up and down some moderate hills will help seat the piston seals etc and reduce oil consumption later on. I remember a diesel mechanic suggested to me finding a carpark and putting it in 1st and then driving it up to 3-4krpm for a few seconds and then releasing the acclerator repeatedly will help seat the piston seals whilst also reducing load (when you release the accelerator the load is reduced but the oil keeps pumping thus cooling them down)
