Hey guys hopefully someone can help me out I have a 07 CRD WK and I just started having a weird problem with it. When the truck is cold and I start it up back out of a parking spot cut the wheel it the front end starts to grab and shudder almost like someone is putting the e-brake on the front end. For the next few min any direction I turn i get like a grinding or shuddering of some sort. It then stops once it seems like fluid gets moving but not sure if thats whats really happening. Any Ideas??

That thought crossed my mind but its like more of a grinding do you think it could have something to do with the torque converter I really don't know a lot about that or I was reading that an additive in the x-fer case can break down over time but not really sure what happens when it does. My jeep just hit the 75k mark so I'm hoping maybe this is the case. I've had CJ's and TJ's so this whole QDII is a whole new world to me and thanks for all your responses!!

you said it is most prevalent when you crank the wheel to one side or the other. I remember having a Ford Ranger with that problem and it was the transfer case..... so I dunno.. maybe get the fluids changed in both and put in the proper additives... bet the problem goes away

So the grinding/shudder started again this AM I took it back to the dealer and they are now telling me that I need new clutched in my xfer case I hope that they are not just throwing parts at me to try to actually nail the problem. It makes sense logically because once the fluids get moving it all goes away they are just saying that the clutches are all worn out...what do you guys think??

hard to say.. if I was you... I would go to a 4x4 shop in your city and ask them... and I would also go to a transmission repair place or two.... just to gather info.....that way you could tell if the stealership was beee essing you or not....

The issues people are having here are certainly real but not all that exceptional based on years of reports regarding the 5.7 MDS Hemi + 545 trans combo in the older WK's as well as the Ram 1500 and 300C. Do some research on some large Dodge and Ram forums before coming to any conclusions, it's in your best interest.

You really need to form your own conclusion once yours comes in because what may be unacceptable to one person may not even be noticeable to another. It doesn't mean the first person is wrong, just that each person has a certain tolerance for things which might explain why some here are having their brand new Jeeps torn apart while others are content to wait and see what Jeep does about this and a larger group aren't having any issue at all.

It's also likely that this pre-existing condition might get a lot more visibility in he WK2 community since I suspect it's a different buyer than the Ram 1500. What may be acceptable to them may not fly for the "flagship" of the Chrysler/Jeep lineup owner..

I realize this is an older post, but I had the same issue. I looked all over & apparently there is a faulty seal where the tranny fill tube meets the top of the tranny. As the A/C condenses it runs down the side of the fill tube & leaks through that seal. Apparently, the Mercedez/Benz trannys are also pretty sensitive - as it does not seem to take much moisture to cause it to shake like a beast!

The only "fix" anyone seems to know of is to flush/fill the tranny & cover that seal w/ ATF-RTV silicone. My mechanic did this and it worked pretty well. I may have to have him check it again though, as it has started again (1yr later), but it is not nearly as bad nor as frequent. He told me that he has seen them as bad as the fluid being pink!

I really wish Chrysler had done better on this one!

We have the same problem with our 2005 GC which has 65,000 miles on the clock. It only happens if the Jeep has been standing still for awhile and then you turn the wheel. No issue once it is in a straight line and done 2 - 3 miles. On hard lock it sounds almost like a grinding noise and you get a vibration through the steering wheel.
