Nice pics and mods on you site btw
First impressions?? Yes a bit chunky but you get use to it and it kind of suits the lines of the Commander. As for choices?? There isn't any other than take it or leave it. Airflow (as far as I know) are the only company that make a snorkel for the Commander at least here in Oz anyway. I'd rather have this snorkel than not for river crossings - certainly takes the worry out of a rather expensive diesel repair or more likely complete replacement if the donk gulps water. The other benefit for me is the cooler cleaner air drawn in up higher on our "bulldust" dirt roads and desert driving...Worth every cent of the $500 it costs but takes 4 - 5 hrs to install and I think there is a slight improvement in fuel economy and power from the "Ram Effect" but then I also have a DPChip (Diesel Power Chip) installed so plenty of torque - hard to tell without a dyno test.

For under hood pics see: Fitting Instructions

Re: Snorkel now available for the CRD

Yea, I had an incident with a water hole that was alot deeper than I thought and apparently deep further than I could reach with the stick I had. Long story short, the engine I have is actually 10k miles less than what the odometer reads. Got it from a rear end total

thanks for the instructions, must be a bit unnerving to take a hole saw to your fender.

I actually came up with an idea for much cheaper and probably less attractive snorkel solution. Its a temporary type of solution for those that may end up in water around hood level. I will post some pics in the spring once I do the fabrication.

Re: Snorkel now available for the CRD

Jeep Wrangler Sahara's have pretty cool stock snorkels... they are very modest and sit under the hood above the air box allowing water to be above the engine just a couple of inches... hard to find a good pic online

Just in case your not aware, Airflow snorkels for GC & Commander are now available in the US from Rocky Road and about $100.00 cheaper than Oz & way less freight so maybe that makes a big difference..but then I'm interested to see yours & yes it's certainly cold sweat with the hole saw but then the snorkel comes with an excellent template...Need to take it nice & easy with the thin metal though.

Re: Snorkel now available for the CRD

Has anyone actually installed on a 5.7L yet?

Where did you get the roof rack with the lights? it is bad ass.

With a few mods it will also fit the petrol (gas to you Yankees ) models as well.

Airflow is the brand.

Apparently, it's a 3.5 to 5 hour fit.

Pretty sure they were purchased seperately though I don't know the owner personally. They either drilled out the holes and mounted them, themselves or the rack came pre-drilled. There are also light mount accessories for some racks.

Took me + friend 5 hrs to fit my snorkel but that was on a Commander. One thing though you need a plastic rivet kit to fix the wheel arch liner in. Don't buy Jeep though, too expensive. Airflow supply a kit (not part of snorkel kit) with riveting tool. As for the roof rack, Rhino make a beauty with all attachments for spare tyre on top, jerry can holders, tie-down eye bolts, shovel holder, hi-lift jack holder plus individual clip on brackets for driving lights....I have 4 but not fitted yet... Next job.
