Voice Controlled Navigation

We purchased our new GC Overland in November 2012. It has the inbuilt Sat Nav. On the website it says this is "Voice Controlled". We didn't get any special instructions on this.

Has any one used the Voice Control for their navigation? If so, how did you do it?

Re: Voice Controlled Navigation

Hi I just got an Overland and IIRC the AV manual has a section on using voice control for the sat nav. Haven't tried it yet as still working out all the other things

Re: Voice Controlled Navigation

We don't have that manual. Where are you situated?

We are in Australia and have found the sat nav faulty - as you will see on this forum if you do a search. Seems to be standard for Overlands in Australia and Jeep Australia aren't encouraging if it will ever be fixed.

Re: Voice Controlled Navigation

I am in Sydney and as only have had the car for a week can't comment on the sat nav not working - with my limited use it has performed well. Time will tell I guess. What are the problems you are having ?

Re: Voice Controlled Navigation

Most buyers expect the Nav system to respond to voice commands in the promoted format "navigate to" followed by the address. This is how it works overseas. Aussie models, as far as I've been informed, all respond along the lines that this feature isn't available in the country.

As we weren't advised this, we're expecting it to be remedied.

Personally, I'd just be happy if they removed the keyboard lockout which activates when the vehicle is in motion. Voice recognition is always going to be a sh!t fight

If your voice recognition system operates the nav I reckon everyone is going to be interested!

Cheers, Steve

Re: Voice Controlled Navigation

My MY14 Overland has similar problems. A voice command of "navigate to Home" works every time, but navigate to anywhere else is answered with "voice navigation is not available for country selected". The Sunshine Coast dealer is of the opinion that voice command is not activated in the Australian model, but I am not convinced, and will continue to pursue a remedy. Other than that, everything is going well.
