This is the best way to wash your truck/car IMO... you don't have to buy the grit guards for the bottom but they definitely help from inducing new swirls/scratches. Dark colored cars/trucks show more swirls/scratches so this might help a lot of here!!! This is Mike Phillips and he knows his stuff!!!! He runs the meguiar's forums.
the cart i plan on making myself as well!!! the grit guards i wouldn't!!! i read a few places that those grit guards have those wings at the bottom that actually keep the dirt at the bottom... Home made ones tend not to keep the dirt at the bottom! the grit guards are $10 each
Nice post irf. I've come to accept that the jeep is not black anymore, more like ashy skin gray with all the dust combined with the swirls aka the dirty black mamba.
hahaha yeah bro mine is brilliant black so its never fully black like urs or joe's!!! joe washed his truck at my house last night and i was just laughing asking why??? it rained today
brilliant black has the sparkley flakes in it it shines all diff colors in the sun LOL but i like it
swirls - suck a$$!!! they are caused when the dirt is still on your wash media and you rub that wash media all over the paint. the two bucket prevents/limits that especially when you use the grit guard. swirls can also be caused when you are drying your truck or QD your truck. if there is any dirt on the paint or on your cloth when touching the paint you are spreading that piece of dirt all over your paint and it is scratching the clear coat on black/dark colors swirls show the most!!!
its def better than going to a car wash!!! and you wont get swirls either!!! the car wash soap is really strong and usually removes any wax you have on your jeep!!!
