Re: A couple questions

I've always had success using 0000 steel wool and a strong solution of degreaser/water or wheel cleaner (the strong ones) as a lubricant for the steel wool. That should remove the grime. After that you'll want to polish and then seal them. Do at least two coats of sealant (wax).

You can use Simple Green as your degreaser (mixed with a little water). Or you can use Dawn dish sop (or any strong dish soap, not hand soap) with water.

Yeah, get the 0000 rated steel wool. It's very fine and won't scratch your wheel.

Any aluminum (if that's what your wheels are) polish should be fine. I think Mothers has a pretty cheap solution.

And then any sort of wax/sealant to protect the wheel. Especially since they encounter brake dust and obviously road/pavement conditions. This will also make maintaining them a lot easier.

Re: A couple questions

I agree with Scott...looks like its corrosion or clear coat damage on the wheels...

The "sun-spotting" your taking about on the hood, is probably hard water that has dried on there again and again...and that is a nasty thing to get off...but some rubbing compound, like Meguires Ultimate Compound could do the trick...

Yeah i thought it looked like clearcoat was beginning to bubble up on my rims but i wasnt sure, so i asked.

Im gonna try that rubbing compound, do i need to have a buffer, or can i just use a cloth?
