THIS IS INCORRECT!!! Scratchx 2.0 uses their SMAT technology and does not diminish

SMAT - Super Micro Abrasives Technology
Super Micro Abrasives are as the name states microscopic in size and do not break down like diminishing abrasives. While they may not breakdown like a diminishing abrasive, there does come a point where there effectiveness falls off in performance, my guess is that this is a cumulative effect of the base formula they are embodied in dissipates while particles of removed paint build up in the residue adulterating or diluting their effectiveness.

There are many compounds that will be quicker by hand...but that brings on another set of problems...like polishing the surface back to a proper shine/sheen to match the rest of the paint.
I agree. ScratchX by hand takes tons of work. I used it with a griots garage 3" orbital with good results. I was detailing a black BMW motorcycle I bought that was swirled bad. On hindsight I should have used something more agressive and then polished it out but ScratchX is a good product for a novice like me. I followed the directions on the bottle. After a lot of time invested the finish on the bike was silky smooth.

Re: Applying ScratchX

Finally got around to the scratches. I am happy to report that the ScratchX + Ultimate wax worked wonders. The scratches were hairline, surface scratches really but still. Thanks all for the advice.

One more question: What to use to clean the foam applicator pads so that I can reuse them or do I not need to?
