Re: Best wax over sealant??

I would put my vote for Meguiar's Ultimate wax. It is easy to apply, ie no swirl marks, does not mark plastics, etc and last for a long time.

That is a strange way to view something IMO, so here is a taste what I know about real protection.

So is people asking over and over how to avoid and remove swirl marks also, but no one I have seen has it figured out either.

What is your point exactly? You use a shampoo to wash that is so weak it will not breakdown the wax layers to cause swirls. That is great idea. Watch this video:

Notice all the dirt and grime coming off the scooter finish that has been waxed. Do you still think you know the proper way to wash your car to remove all the dirt and grime ? My guess is, No.

Re: Best wax over sealant??

I wash my car with whatever carwash soap is on sale, as long as I recognize the brand. I use an old dish towel to wash it and old bath towels to dry it. I wipe down inside the doors and under the hood.

I wax it twice a year with any brand name wax, and wipe it off with old T-shirts. It's been working for around 40 years.

I don't get swirl marks, I don't eat off the hood, and every time I trade in a car they want the name of my detailer.

Is my Jeep as clean in every crevice as a detailer would get it? No.
Is my Jeep a work of art or a tool? It's a tool.
Will anybody other than a fanatic think my car is dirty? No.

In many things, including maintaining the appearance of a vehicle, the best way to screw it up is to obsess over it.

IMHO

Re: Best wax over sealant??

Actually I agree with one thing you mention. You should not obsess over your vehicles like many people who apply coats of grease on their vehicles do .I am just trying to offer a way to do just that by applying something besides wax that will offers real protection.Maybe swirls are not a problem for you, but others may feel different about protecting their paint.

There is a product called Lens Clens, which is very popular among photographers. More commonly it is know as "The Pink Stuff". It was originally a commercial product sold to industry, until a fairly well known photographer heard about it and contacted the manufacturer. He got them to agree to sell it in small quantities and word spread. They now sell directly to consumers, through their website.

So using the excuse that it is not sold retail as a reason for not naming what you think is a good product, seems absurd. At least to me.

I think I was in second grade when I last heard someone sing;

"I've got a secret, I won't tell"

Re: Best wax over sealant??

ugh...another troll with reading comprehension problems. Bring your cars and whatever product youre pushing to berea, KY and lets see what all your fuss is about. I told you above I don't use wax. I don't seal over previously sealed paint. I wash with mequiers soap and a little apc mixed any time I wash. When preparing for my meguiers #21 sealant or blackfire I will go over my vehicle with a mixture of iso alcohol and water mixed about 40/60 to remove any possible sealant left after a heavy wash using 4-5x more soap than usual.
I have tried carnauba wax's etc. and agree they dull the paint to me. Anyone whos worth spit will try mosts products to get their own truths. So spill the beans on the shit your selling or pushing and for whom. Get to the point..we are not children and on a private forum as this you have NO rights as far as free speech etc. So spill it as I grow weary.
