Change in plans

Well, could not do the Sonata today, but I have a back up. My first video ever was this car. Here is a video I did of this 2003 Mercedes.

Now this is the car today with simple washing after 2 years with no applications of the product I use. This car was initially done back in 09,and the may be the fourth coat I believe.

Well maybe some will see what I see everyday, and this is why I have a customer base who still call me. This is why wax is right up there with a IBM typewriter. Sure you can type a letter, but most people understand that it is old technology. Much the same as wax, you get shine and water beading. Although, sadly nothing more. So my final question here is this:Why does this 03 car before doing nothing but washing it look worlds better than brand new cars that have never been titled do? Why are there
not massive swirls all over this car like this after 2 years?

Hey Bill, give it up man. Even in your YouTube videos, you don't say anything about the process. You just make it seem like you have an axe to grind and have been doing it for years on many forums, getting banned from most. I thought SRTgirl advised you to not open a new thread unless you are really helping with something when this thread is a useless as the rest. The Florida sun must of fried your brain as you just don't seem to take the hint here. Your videos are all the same...here is the after look of the vehicle and how great it looks, blah blah blah...

Here is someone I worked with on a forum that I actually asked to be banned from. He did not have a big ego like you, and actually wanted to learn something. Here is what he said about me:

AT-5
December 30, 2011 08:27PM Registered: 2 years ago
Posts: 8 I just wanted to let everyone on this form know about AT-5. I recieved a sample of this product from Billd55 about a week ago I couldn't apply it until today because of rain and cold weather and I am please to report that this product is just truely AMAZING!!!!! The shine is like looking in a mirror I have used wax and polishes for over 30 years and I can truthfully say I have never seen a wax or polish produce a shine like AT-5 does. It was easy to apply I did my car in about 3 hrs from wash to finish the product comes off as easy as it applies just make you do it in the shade or early in the morning when it's cool and you want have any problem I used a wax remover to get rid of the old wax and so the sealer would bond to the clear coat and now I have a shine I am proud of. Billd55 you have a great product thank you. So for all you doubter out there all I can say is just try AT-5 and see for yourself.

So, the only thing I agree with you on is you are a wax zealot bent on getting his way. Like usually this is your MO. Posting some picture of Homer Simpson with your slogan, but lacking in any facts which makes you a troll.

Actually, I would like to help people here with some practical advice,
but certain people here just continue to post this, and wonder why they think I am talking down to them.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Now when I visualize paint correction and using wax this is what this picture tells me. The flame shows the wax melting, and your money vanishing without solving the problem.

"a forum that I actually asked to be banned from. "

Why would you have to ask to be banned? Couldn't you just leave quietly?

Re: Change in plans

That is a beautiful car. I love reflection shots as much as the next guy. What they show is awesome reflection. We will just have to agree to disagree on the wax thing. I am a huge fan of Collinite #915 and the protection it provides. My car is as clean(free of swirls and scratches) as anyone that uses opti-coat. You don't think it provides any protection and causes scratches, that is fine.
What I would like to see (because detailing is your profession and mine is hunting heads) is some pictures of your work with repaired scratches or swirl marks. If you look at some of the folks(professional detailers) on detailing specific forums, they always take a pic of the correction work they do (before and after) in a light that you can't hide anything. Maybe that is not what you offer to your customers and I get that but, I'm curious

Dude, that is the most honest and rational statement I have heard from anyone on any forum I have been on. I am impressed, and I can completely except that.

Scratches are one thing, and swirls are completely different. If someone keys your car that is a scratch, but swirl marks can go both ways.If a car is truly scratched then removing it may not be possible in all cases,so repainting may be the only option.

There are actually very fine scratches on this car, but you have to look at them in a certain light and angle to see them. This product is not like wax in that it does not cover or fill the scratches in to hide them for awhile. Although the increased gloss does distract the eye from noticing them.

My goal here is to maintain the structure of the clear coat, and not wear it down which could lose natural shine from the clear paint.

Re: Change in plans

I see the pics of the 03 merc and it has a nice shine but do you not SEE the swirls and halograms? Now see I don't get any of the points your trying to make when EVERY vehicle you've posted has swirls etc. Just stop already....

The Opti products are great...I agree. But they are NOT the be ALL to end ALL. Sorry they just aren't. You still have to take care NOT to create swirls, holograms, scratches etc. I know...I have it on MY JEEP!!!! I still use the 2 bucket method with grit guards! Still use the BEST sheepskin or microfiber mitt I can find. I still use the $25 waffle weave drying towel and the methods I learned from my father YEARS ago!

I really do not see the swirls and holograms you mention. This is a 03, and not a new car. As I mentioned there are fine scratches, but for this owner he is happy with it. When I explained to him what the cost would be to make this paint perfect and bead water which he mentioned he liked. He changed his mind quite quickly, and figured out that my way made sense for just the protection alone.

You do not have to apologize for what you believe even know it is wrong.I understand the thing with father and son, and how you want to stick up for your dad. I get that, and completely understand.

Although, as I said the last time you brought this up. Where is your proof?
If Mike Phillips with 35 years in this business cannot show it maybe you will. One thing I see here with many members here is they are short on facts, but not on opinions.

You can continue to bring this up that Opti Coat is not the end to all, but how would you know exactly? I am not sure, but my guess you have coated the Opti Coat with wax by now. If so, how would you ever know if what I am saying is true.

Maybe the paint is protected, but the wax over it will be even less likely to bond meaning some will wear off, but some will harden with contaminates and will have to be removed for the sake of shine and beading.

As I said earlier, why does this car not look worse? These pics are BEFORE reapplying my sealant after two years. You mention swirls and and hologram, but where? You will likely point out some point in my video where you saw something on one spot, and now the car is full of them. Am I right? If so, I would think they would be all over the car, and not in one spot.
