Re: Cleaning brakes

Well it'll happen around the same time I get them. No use painting them now as you can't see them with my stock wheels.

Re: Cleaning brakes

I recommend the G2 kit.....others have used the Duplicolor kit with success...but it doesnt have the color choices of the G2

Re: Cleaning brakes

Where can you get G2 from? Advanced Auto Parts? I'm trying to paint mine also. I'm confused on what color....

Paint them before the SRT reps Blake!

Re: Cleaning brakes

Id recommend removing the calipers to paint, but not from the brake line. it till get a more even coat on it and make sure it comes out nicer. That and you wont have to worry about tapping stuff up, just throw some newspaper under em and put them on the rotor or a box or sumtin.

Also dont use that brake caliper paint in the parts stores, its flakes off when washing.

Re: Cleaning brakes

umm, please tell me the people that asked if you need to take the rim off to paint the calipers are kidding right? yea taking the wheels off is a good idea. unless u tape the brush to a stick, shove it thru the rims, and dont mind paint dripping on ur rims. I did mine with the $20 red dupli color paint kit and came out great. I left the calipers on, used the tape in the box they give and spent some time masking off the pads and parts i didnt want paint on. I prob did about 4-5 coats to each one, all at the same time. Worked top down on the caliper then by the time I got to the bottom it was ready for another coat. Comes with a cleaner also but i ran out cuz I went crazy cleaning everything i picked up basic brake cleaner from walmart. I mounted the rims about an hour later and they were fine. I still have about 3/4 of the paint left, so I can redo them every year if i want.

Did mine in march and they are still perfect, no signs of chipping of anything. All i have to do to clean them is wipe them with a sponge when washing the car and they look like i just painted them. i dont know the prices of the other kits, but the $20 dupli color worked great for me. I was going to use the spray, but after seeing whats involved no way, im too lazy to take the caliper off or mask under the entire wheel well from overspray.
