hate to bump this so quick... but I was thinking of picking this up from the guy after work. Is this similar to the crap walmart brand buffers and would I be better off by hand?

That's an orbital buffer. New 25-60 bux depending on brand. Consider it like a motorized hand. Fine for very basic detailing. Not anything special.
