headlight lense repair?

ok so my lenses are all kinds of scratched and swirled up. They are still CRYSTAL clear, so i dont need one of those lense cleaner deals.

how do i sand/fix these lenses without them just being worse?

I would use some plastic polish. They use it on aircraft lenses when they get scratched up. Rub it in and polish it out, pretty easy and good results.

Re: headlight lense repair?

i have a plastic claener/ polish set from this company. i dont have the GREEN one. I have this set for over 20 years now.

http://www.bestplasticcleaner.com/

and then if that dont do it bro.....continue on in Phils direction......I have a aircraft windshield scratch kit that goes from like 1000 grit to 25,000 grit. they are optically clear.

http://www.ceebaileys.com/order_hl_restore.htm

^^^^^^^ also have the windshield one for plastic if you want more than that.

Re: headlight lense repair?

If you have a lot of swirls, scratches, haze, etc. I'd suggest looking at our DI Packages Headlight Restoration Advanced Kit or a similar set of products. You can also use those same exact polishes on your paint to help enhance the value. This headlight restoration article should also be a big help. If you have any questions please let me know.

Re: headlight lense repair?

I bought a kit from 3m that attaches to a drill (sandpaper, polish, etc) and used it on one of my old cars.. If you try something like that just make sure you have a HIGH speed drill, otherwise it won't work very well. Mine wasn't fast enough and I just ended up buying e-bay lights later. Lesson learned.

I bought a bottle of the new Meguiars Ultimate Compound to take care of some paint imperfections and decided to try it on my hazy/scratched headlights. It polished them to absolutely perfection in a single pass.

You know...you're not the first person I've heard say this lately. I tried it on some scratched up license plate covers and they came out awesome. This stuff might be good for just about everything. It even friggin smells good.
