Here is my 15 year old Grand Cherokee Limited's engine bay. I think it looks damn good considering what all this old Jeep has been put through.

Yer darn right it looks good! Good Job on that.

Nope... you're not the only one who likes a clean engine. Here's some before and after pics of when I first bought it and how it always is afterwards. I clean it about once a month depending on how much it rains here.

Dave I love clean engines but I had to wait a couple days to check Mario's availability. It will be done this Thursday and hopefully its going to be epic. I think my photo made everybody elses engine bay look 10 times cleaner. :D

So putting cleaner and water all over the wires in there doesnt do damage? I want to spray down everything with engine degreaser then wash it off with water from a pitcher, I dont even want to put a water hose near it. Should I be ok? Im worried about water getting down where the coils go in the heads or something. What about the alternater, do i cover that too or can it handle getting wet? I want to clean it this weekend, since its getting colder and its filthy.

Just follow the Elvis Presley method of engine cleaning and you will be a-ok. But in your case I would stay away from using a de-greaser because of the painted strut bar.

What I would do if I were you is get a foam gun and use that for your engine bay.

I used that Orange stuff on mine that you can get for like 4 dollars a bottle, it works awesome, I just sprayed it on, waited 10 min and gently hosed it off, I only needed to do it once and that was the first time in like 3 and a half years. Its supposed to be less toxic and crap than gunk and other engine degreasers so I was surprised how well it worked. Its been like 2 months since I washed my car but the temps haven't left the 30's.
