How do you guys clean the entire rim from the inside? Not just the front(face) but the lip inside! I haven't cleaned mine since i got the jeep! They are beyond dirty from the inside!!! Can I do this without taking off the rims?
Yeah, I remove the wheel to clean the inside. Use a really strong wheel cleaner or degreaser and I also used 0000 steel wool. As you would expect, get a nice coat of wax on them to protect.
The best way is to take it off unless you have like 24". Sometimes you can get a toilet brush in theere but it doesn't clean it as good as taking it off.
Wow! I didn't realize just how anal some of you guys are about your jeeps lol. I love keeping mine clean but I have never done that, nor plan to, I don't see the point. But if one of you guys don't mind coming to Jersey to clean the inside of my rims, there might be a six pack in it for you, or a couple of colt 45's lol
2 reasons, IMHO, I looks like ass with nice wheels to have the inside all black and greasy/dusty.
2, it can actually effect the balance of a rim. I had a rim once that i bought used and mounted and balanced. it tool over 4 ounces of weight to get ti right.
It had alot of gummy grease on it from a tie rod end that must have been bad on the jeep it came off of, among that alot of sand stuck to it in the multiple spots it had grease blobs.
Cleaned the rim on the inside and it balanced out very nicely.
I wish I lived near detailing fanatics. I wash mine about once a week and I am always getting corny ass comments like, "you're gonna wash the paint right off your truck" from my neighbors.
I get that too from my neighbors. The guy across the street from me asked if detailing (well they call it washing) my cars is my therapy. I said yes. Not everyone likes driving around in dirty cars.

I don't even have any old people in my neighborhood, they're all in their 30's and late 20's. I expect those comments from old people white people, but not from these peeps. We are actually the only white people in the neighborhood.
Hey hey Scott and Matt go easy on us oldies! I like to keep the insides of my wheels clean too. Had to remove the 17s to do this, however with the 20s and standard brakes I can just manage to reach in there. I wax the insides too.
