no need to clay-bar unless you have orange peel... wash, buff, polish, wax. works wonders.

Re: How to keep a black car clean...

Anyone ever use an electric leaf blower? I've never tried this but have heard nothing but good things as far as results.

Re: How to keep a black car clean...

^^^ be careful with a leaf blower! you can cause the dirt from the ground to go up onto the paint and then when you are final drying you will be rubbing that dirt all over your paint!

Re: How to keep a black car clean...

Um...unless you're detailing your truck in a bubble, there is dirt and dust flying around everywhere. There's no avoiding it. I've used nothing but a leaf blower for years (electric) and have had nothing but awesome results. This was on everything from a show-winning Wrangler to our current WJ and WK (Dark Khaki and Black).

You could argue the blower is blowing the dirt off your finish too.

1. less towels to wash and dry later
2. NO rubbing
3. gets water out of lug holes, door handles, side mirrors do you don't get leaks later.

Re: How to keep a black car clean...

I've used a leaf blower on two black vehicles before, a 98 WK and an 02 Volvo. The nicest thing is being able to get it dry in no time.. lol

Not sure if I will use it on the new Jeep yet, although it doesn't seem to make anything worse, its just sucking in the air and blowing it back out..

Re: How to keep a black car clean...

Mine filters the incoming air too...to some extent at least. It has a filter and a grate to protect the fins that spin to make the blower blow. The filter is a sponge-type and does really well. You take it out, wash it and put it back in every few months.

The same motor mounts into my shop vac and powers that too. I use it to dry the engine compartment after cleaning that too. Gets water out of places you don't want it to sit around on.
