Talking Merc ML Detail (Pre-Jeep Warm-up Detail)...

Well, my dad bought this a about 2 1/2yr ago and I said I'd give it a detail. I did post a mini-detail on this thing here a while back, but this time the job is done!

The truck has a lot of swirls, some RDSs, and severly flat/dull paint. I just slapped SRP and coats of Z-CS on it to keep it protected but now it's back to life and popping fresh.

Oh, by the way, I know it isn't a Jeep or even a Mopar, BUT Merc MLs are all made by Chrysler.

Process:
Wash (Rinse, neat APC in foam lance, rinse, TBM wash, rinse),
De-contaminate (Meg's Body Solvent),
Clay (Zaino Z-Something, Z6 lube),
Wash
Dry.

Polish (Mikita + Menz Intensive Polish 3.02)
IPA wipe over
Glaze (PC + Poorboys Black Hole)

Seal Zaino Z5-PRO x3
Zaino Z6 wipe over
Zaino tire dressing, Meg's Hyper Dressing on arches, CG VRT on trim, Autoglym Fast Glass on well, the glass...

Few pics of process and complete detail:

Foam.

Wash,

Clay,

Before 1,

Before 2,

Before 3,

After 1,

After 2,

After 3,

Complete Pics,

By the way, I'm not a major Zaino fanboy (used to be ), just wanted a super long lasting LSP for this as it will only be washed every 3-4 weeks.

Thanks for looking, the Jeep will be finished next by around the middle of next month.

Thanks Paul! DW is a great source, I was on Autopia but after that site started in '07 it's gone from strength to strength although both are excellent resources.

I bought the Mikita rotary for this detail as Merc's have stupidly hard clear, but one pass with Intensive Polish removed 90% of the marks and left an LSP ready surface.

The PC is great for normal clears (Jeeps) and glazing and since the paint is now at the stage where further machining is risky the Mikita will be going for sale and I'll be back to the PC. PC is a little more time consuming, although compared to doing it by hand it's great - although the vibrations are pretty horrid.

Re: Merc ML Detail (Pre-Jeep Warm-up Detail)...

Thanks.

Can't wait to finish the detail/resto on the Jeep. That will be pretty pic heavy, although as far as correction goes, just needs some Menzerana Final Finsih PO85RD to bring out the gloss again and remove some light marring. Then HD Cleanse>Zymol Vintage.
