My July 4th Paint Correction

Decided to spend my July 4th weekend giving the Jeep a paint correction. It was in fairly good shape, i try to give it weekly wash but i did noticed some swirls/holograms and rough spots.
.
The materials rundown:
Chemical Guys Citrus Wash
Meguiars Claybar with Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer

Meguiars G110v2 DA Polisher for the following:
Meguiars Ultimate Compound
Meguiars Ultimate Polish
Blackfire Diamond Sealant
Meguiars Ultimate Wax

Invisible Glass
Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Spray

Process: Didnt take too many detailed pics of the process but most are self explanatory. Feel free to ask if anything

1. Washed it down with the Chemical guys citrus wash. Stripped off all existing previous wax/sealants.
2. Claybar
3. Rewash
4. Claybar ( made an another pass the nxt day, the first pass was at evening and rushed an area or so since sun was setting)
5. Rewash
6. Applied Ultimate Compound- cleans the paint. The toughest step imo, i tend to find the UC a bit difficult to buff off by hand, lots of elbow grease involved. Should hear a squeaky sound if you rub the paint.

reflection after the UC

7. Applied Ultimate Polish. Fairly easy and much easier to buff off.

Reflection after the polish:

8. Applied Blackfire Diamond Sealant. Allow cure time for maximum protection. The first coat i let it sit for ~6 hours and buff off. The 2nd coat i let it sit overnight (~15hrs) and buff off.

after sitting overnight:

9.Applied Ultimate Wax and buff off.

Result:

10. Windows with invisble glass and wipe off with newspaper

reflection off 5% Tint : My fav shot

Some more final result pics Was beat after so only took a few amateur shots

Re: My July 4th Paint Correction

Is your SRT Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl or Black Clear Coat? Either way your hard work has paid off IMO. It looks deep and rich to the point of now I am feeling motivated.

Re: My July 4th Paint Correction

Question:
Why use both Meguiars Ultimate Compound & Meguiars Ultimate Polish?
M205 finishes incredibly well in place of both.
No arguing with the results. It looks awesome!

Re: My July 4th Paint Correction

Isn't ultimate polish a finer cut than Compound, there for e a good way to smooth it off?

Yes but, with how well 205 corrects and finishes it might be all you need.

Re: My July 4th Paint Correction

I read on the meguairs forums, the 205 is usually combo with the 105? 105 is a deep/strong compound and wasnt necessary for my paint. The reason i didnt go with the 205.

Does the 205 also acts as a paint cleaner and polish?

Re: My July 4th Paint Correction

yeah 205 is the polish.

probably close or same to what you used.

looks awesome.

only suggestion i have is before I put on my sealant I do an Alcohol wipe down.

i use Alcohol from walgreens its like 70% pure. I mix that about 2:1 with distilled water for a true 50/50 mix. I mist it on and wipe it off. It give the paint a squeeky clean feel. removes anything you might have left behind before I seal.

just a suggestion. but for a car that lives outside your wk looks great bro/

Yes 105 is aggressive but you don't have team it up with 205.
205 will do both

Thanks Rob! Appreciate it!
How you treating the Acura? Any updates?

I read about wiping it off with alcohol. Questiin- will the alcohol take off the polish?
