new paint and 3M protective film

This may not be a detailing question, but I have had the 3M protection clear film on my last two vehicles and love it.
My new vehicle is being built right now and when I take delivery the paint might only be 2 weeks "fresh".

Two questions.

Is there any special care for new paint that hasnt cured for a period of time?

Can I install the film on new paint, or does it have to "breathe" for a period of time before sealing?

Thanks!

You can install the film right away because the paint is already cured.

I recommend the Xpel Ultimate over the 3M.
3M is older technology that seems to yellow over time while the Xpel Ultimate is self curing and stays clear.

I just got the Xpel Ultimate paint protection film installed today. Lets see how well it protects from those nasty paint chips.

I've been looking to get xpel film as well. If you don't me asking, what was the cost? I live in Chicago and there aren't many shops in the Chicagoland area that carry the xpel brand.

It all depends on what you want done each section is a certain price, I went on to the Xpel website and found a hand full of places mostly in northwest burbs. I went to "Clear Guards for Cars, Inc". They are located in Hoffman Estates. I would highly recommend them very professional.
I can tell you what I got done and what I paid:
Bumper, Grill and front lower fascia
Fenders and lower part of all doors
In front and behind back tires "impact guards"
And all the door sills as well.

All in total I paid $1020.00

Suntek self healing film is excellent as well.

Get full nose (including full hood), A-Pillars, door sills, wheel arches, and rear bumper just behind the wheels, if you want to ensure maximum anti-chip protection.

And since you're interested in maintaining a perfect finish, seriously consider a protective coating as well. In the long run it's far cheaper than 3 times a year detailing/waxing, will give you an unreal shine, and keep your paint in pristine condition. Consider it another, thicker, clear coat protecting your paint. Cleaning is a breeze and a basic wash makes the Jeep look like it's just been freshly waxed. My friends take their Jeeps right from the dealer to the detailer. In fact, we tell the dealer not to prep wash the vehicle for delivery so there are 0 swirls or scratches.

I have Ceramic Pro(and couldn't be happier) but there are others as well. Get your plastic coated as well. It will have that deep "armor all" look to it, but no greasy feeling and lasts for several years.

So what are your thoughts about xpel now that you've had it a few weeks?

It has saved my paint from chips and honestly is not noticeable unless u look for it. I had like 600-800 when I got it put on and now I have like 1300 miles on my GC. I would recommend it its worth the $$$ especially if you don't want to deal with paint touch up all over the place because of scratched and chips. And with the Xpel if you get a scratch on it, just warm it it up with warm water and it will heal itself.
