Nu Finish ??

I've avoided this stuff because being one of those, "Made For TV" infomercial products, I just assumed it was crap. So yesterday I bought a bottle of Meguire's Classic Gold Car Wax. Then I started reading about how guys were really satisfied with Nu Finish. It is also rated #1 in all the Consumer Reports comparisons. There are You Tube videos everywhere showing how customers are really pleased with it.

This stuff, (Nu Finish), has been around forever, and I was wondering if anyone here has used it? I'm tempted to try it on my 1991 Ford F-150. The paint is still in pretty good shape, but it really lacks luster in some areas. It is also supposed to last much longer than wax products. Especially out here in the hot Arizona Sun.

I'm thinking of returning the Meguire's and getting a bottle of Nu Finish. What do you guys think? I'm 62 so polishing a full sized pickup with a camper shell is no small task for me. I'm looking for the most, "bang for my buck", so to speak.

Re: Nu Finish ??

No first hand knowledge, but there are many RV owners that swear by it.

Re: Nu Finish ??

Well, I bought a bottle of Nu Finish a little while ago. I've got my truck all washed and prepped for it. I'm too beat to do it today. I'll get out there first thing tomorrow morning and start in. My wife is going to do a number on the interior. I did the whole engine with Simple Green, then a blow dry, let run until hot, then Armor All'd everything under the hood. It really looks good.

I'll report back on how the Nu Finish works. It say's it's good for fiberglass boats, so it should work good on my Leer Top. We'll see.

Re: Nu Finish ??

I've used this for years. The only thing I've found as good or a little better is Liquid Glass. Both are easy to put on. The Liquid Glass requires two coats within a short period of time but seems to last longer than the Nu Finish.

I wouldn't hesitate to use either.

Re: Nu Finish ??

I used NuFinish for many years and had tried different things but always gone back to it. It goes on and comes off easy and seemed to last longer than Meguire's or the others I tried. Consumer reports rating it high just seemed to reinforce that. I don't do the waxing anymore but I would use it if I did.

Re: Nu Finish ??

I've e personally been using Nu Finish for 15 + yrs now. I will never try anything else. It seems to last longer than any other high end wax I've tried. I had a black 1988 Toyota 4 runner than had factory paint andI had many comments on well the finish looked . It's petroleum based so you can apply it in the hot sun and it will still come off easily.

Re: Nu Finish ??

I did my truck today with Nu Finish, and it worked really well! The worst was the roof and the top of my camper shell. It took a bit more elbow grease, and I had to use a small step ladder to reach it. But when I was done the truck looked really nice.

It didn't take as long as I expected either. I hit everything, chrome, wheels, even the plastic headlight and tail light lenses. It did a beautiful job. The paint has not looked this good in years. I think I'll do it again in another couple of months. It will be easier if I keep up with it. At this point I see no reason to try anything else. It's Nu Finish for me from now on.

Re: Nu Finish ??

Told ya !!! I'm using it now on my black 14 Jk and my wife's. I tell everyone I see staring at waxes in Canadian Tire that I think it's the best.

Re: Nu Finish ??

Now that I have my new Jeep Grand Cherokee, I'm going to give it it's first wax job. As I mentioned above I used Nu Finish on my truck, and I was very pleased with the results. However that was on a 1991 vehicle that does not have clear coat, and has seen 24 years of Sun. It left the finish nicer than it's been in years.

Have any of you guys used Nu Finish on your new or newer clear coated vehicles? The paint job on my Jeep is really nice, and I just want to be sure Nu Finish will be OK, or else should I use something different? Clear coat on factory vehicles has been around almost as long as Nu Finish. I would imagine if they were incompatible, you would have heard it by now. Especially if it had any negative effects.

Re: Nu Finish ??

Nu Finish in my opinion is one of the longest lasting coating you can use. I've had good results with both Nu Finish and Meguires products. I know there is more exotic stuff on the market, but I like to just go to my local store and pick up what I need. No ordering and waiting for it to arrive in the mail. It's also relatively cheap. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. Also remember to clay bar you vehicle first. I'm sure there is tons of contaminants in your paint from its rail trip out west.
