i like #26 and scott also likes it as well. it gives a great pop on top of a sealant!

get white(polishing),orange(light cutting),black(glazes) and blue pads(waxes and sealants)
I've clayed before.

I'll probably just go ahead and grab #26. Is that an AZ product or is a part of the professional line?

Will one pad per product be enough?

So I should be getting an orange pad for the UC and a blue pad for the sealant... and microfiber bonnets for the buffing...?

Re: our WK clear coat hardness

#26 is part of their prof line but i see it at every AZ and PepBoys

no one pad per product will def NOT be enough for compound and polish, i would say min 2 and you will have to clean the pad on the fly after every panel. once its over-saturated you should switch.

i normally use 4 pads for the compound and polish(8 all together)... the wax and sealant you only need 1 pad each.

you never want to use multiple products on the same pad unless they are washed!

Right, but since I'm not using a separate compound and polish - I'm just using the UC (per your recommendation), I should need 4 orange pads, 1 blue pad for the sealant, apply wax by hand, and doo all my buffing with microfiber bonnets... right?

Re: our WK clear coat hardness

well you might not like the finish UC leaves, it all depends on how you use it(speed and pressure) i would say speed 5 and 15lb of pressure. i would try UC with a white pad first, if that doesnt do you justice then move to orange pad, you could also get 2 blues and save your self a lot of time by applying the wax via PC... microfiber towels are a must for removing product

Re: our WK clear coat hardness

Hey Irf and anyone else who is familiar with claying ...

I just bought the meguairs clay kit and tried using it mine but i still see contaminants on the surface of the paint ... I washed it real nice with a power washer and used chemical guys to remove all the old crap, use pretty good amount lube and apply enough pressure to glide it over but seems like doesn't pick up as much as I thought it would ... any pointers ???

Also if you open the clay wrapping can u store it in the box again or do you have to use the whole thing right away ?

You can store it for later use, yes. ZipLoc bag or something sealed should be fine.

I'd guess you didn't use enough pressure, maybe? Maybe too much lube?

Re: our WK clear coat hardness

omar you should be using enough pressure but not soo much that you're grinding it into the surface. always make sure that the surface is lubricated! you never want to clay on a dry surface!

can you take a pic of the contaminants that aren't coming off? you might need to get a stronger clay.

Re: our WK clear coat hardness

after claying you have no wax on your paint. if you can't use UC today then i would wax just in case. then you will have to use strong car wash to remove wax again before you use UC
