Safe effective paint cleaners

Interested to hear what this group recommends for cleaning their paint. Specifically, I finally gave my car a good post-winter hand washing and noticed what seems like tiny tar specs all over the lower 1/3 on both sides. A good sponge scrubbing did not remove much of it. Is there any consensus on what is the best way to remove this sort of thing? There are a ton of sap, tar, clay bars, etc products out there, but I can honestly say I've never had something like this or the need in the past and don't know what's safe for the paint/clear coat.

Appreciate any input.

Re: Safe effective paint cleaners

We spray our aircraft and motorcycles down with Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish or the Harley-Davidson brand Spray Cleaner & Polish. It removes dried bug guts very well and over the many years using it, never had any problem with it harming the paint/clearcoat. Highly Recommended. I do not recall how it does with tar.

For road tar and small spots of whatever I always use goo gone. Works like a champ and doesn't harm the paint. Can finish things off with a sealant/wax of your choice. I like Menzerna Power Lock.

Re: Safe effective paint cleaners

All I use is Adams polish on my cars. The all purpose cleaner works great for cleaning this type of stuff off.

Re: Safe effective paint cleaners

I also only use Adams Polishes on both my Overland and Camaro. Best products I have ever used. Their clay bar or all purpose cleaner will take the tar right off. Be sure to wax the area after.
