I would use a glass cleaner. I have never found the "wheel cleaners" to be worth the cost.

I wash my wheels the same way I wash my paint...with care. Use your car wash and the same 2 bucket method. I always keep my wheels sealed and waxed. I use blackfire wet diamond sealant and adams Americana wax. Works good on my paint and on my wheels. I would put my jeeps finishes up against anyones...and its a daily driver.

Re: what is best way/product to clean black rims

hey scott, thanks for reply, just a few questions, 1-what do you use to clean your actual rubber tire? 2-can i use adams buttery wax on my rim? 3- you dont use adams deep wheel cleaner on rim? 4-do you use adams all purpose cleaner for anything?
thanks scott, and yes i would put your finish up against anyones finish, show car or daily dont matter and ive only seen pics on instagram and here, cant imagine it in person, i strive to have your finish but its been a pain with the winter were having in New York, the roads are white from being overly salted.

Re: what is best way/product to clean black rims

Yikes! Please don't use glass cleaner. Ammonia softens plastic causing cloudiness and scratches. Treating/protecting it like it is a painted surface is the right approach.

what is best way/product to clean black rims

This is my method for washing my wheels, tires and fender wells. I use a Karcher 1600 psi pressure washer and MTM foam lance every time i wash my Jeep.

Tires
- Thorough rinse with pressure washer
- Meguiars Super Degreaser diluted 4:1 (let sit for 3-5 minutes)
- Nylon bristle brush to scrub clean
- Thorough rinse again with pressure washer.

Altitude Black Rims:
- Thorough rinse with pressure washer
- Griots Heavy Duty Wheel cleaner (3-5min) I always work one wheel at a time.
- Extra soft bristle brush on the spokes and lugs (rinsing brush every few strokes)
- Micro fiber wash mitt for the barrels and behind spokes (rinsing often)
**For the brushes and wash mitt i use a dedicated wash bucket with chemical guys Mr. Pink soap and gritt guard**
- Micro fiber towel to dry

Wheel wells:
- thorough rinse with pressure washer
- Megiuars Super Degreaser (spray fender liners, suspension components and inner edges of fender flares)
- Agitate with soft bristle long handle brush
- Rinse with pressure washer

Leaf blower to dry any excess water on wheels/tires after the rest of Jeep has been washed and dried.

Does the Super degreaser remove wax from the finish? I don't want to have to re-wax after every wash. Thanks

im not a 100% sure... id have to do a little research. I would assume that yes it would being that it removes oil and grease from different surfaces.

I don't use that stuff on my wheels though, only on the tires and wheel wells.

I don't use anything right now (still looking into wheel waxes). For whatever reason the Griots leaves my rims looking immaculate after washing and drying.

Chemical Guys has two waxes I am considering to try out:

or
