Re: why do tires turn brown

So, we can concur this phenomenon by using a chemical (i.e. Hot Shine) on the sidewall... well, a tire has a sidewall on the outside and a sidewall on the inside, do you guys frequently remove your wheels to apply Hot Shine to the inner sidewall? Is there even an advantage to applying only one side of the sidewall?

Re: why do tires turn brown

you really . . . don't want to remove your tires just for a silly coating. Removing the tire requires heavy duty machines and a shop will have to remove the tire and no matter how long it takes their gonna charge a base fee.

I was referring to outer and inner as in one side wall (outer side of the tire) and the other sidewall (outer side of the tire). Like one sidewall has outlined raised white lettering and the other side just has black. Removing the wheel would be required to do this... not the tire.

Re: why do tires turn brown

The tires on our Saturn at home turn brown when not washed/shined up for a while. Next time I'll take some pics. Doesn't look like a dirty tire kinda brown. You definitely know it's the tire itself. Maybe it's a manufacturing thing.,I've gone alot longer with no tire cleaning/shine on my Jeep and never noticed this happen.
