Re: Zymol Vintage Detail.

Yeah, I did. I hated the damn things, made sense as an optional extra if the roof rack was being used, but I don't so I removed them for more shine!

They come off with a heat gun and about a gallon of Tar and Glue remover if you are unlucky enough to have them fitted.....

Re: Zymol Vintage Detail.

Your jeep Looks outstanding Marty! Its as clean as clean can be You got a nice touch for detailing.

...but I just want to clear this up in my head. It was $800 USD for that little can of Zymol that is sitting on your hood on top of that applicator pad?!?

Well, first job when I got back was pick the SJ sticker off the rear window. I do actually quite like it bare to be honest, well see what happens...

Mmm.. Your Jeep is dark blue so at least they don't stick out like a sore thumb. Good luck if you do remove them tho, it was a PITA...

Thanks Will, its much appreciated!

The jar sitting on the hood is 4oz, I got another 4oz, hence 8oz in total for $800.

Ok here goes...

Video is, well, a little rough? I've used iMovie '09 once before and well, I don't get on well with video editing so its not the best but hey, it does the job...

The sheeting doesn't look all that great, but the car was parked slightly uphill so that did skew the results slightly.

Re: Zymol Vintage Detail.

Ahhh I forgot about this sorry. Man you really like your detailing to spend that much, I could not even imagine that in a dream paying that much for wax.

It looks Outstanding though! thanks for the vid too. Its like your jeep just drys itself once the waters turned off haha. If my paint was in good condition I would consider shipping my jeep to you to have it detailed.

You do great work Marty....Do you own a detailing business?

Re: Zymol Vintage Detail.

Thanks Will, if the car was a darker color I wouldn't spend that much on a wax either - Meg's #16 would be more than good enough. Problem with having a silver car is you're always trying to get more out of the finish - I still regard Zaino as a killer LSP on silver tho...

The wax does leave an almost dry finish when you take the connector of the hose and 'flood' it, which means less chances swirls when drying but many other sealants/waxes do the same too.

I will be putting a second coat this month and that'll be it until April, except maybe the odd coat of Field Glaze, so the durability is top notch.

As far as doing it as a business, no. If someone asks I'll generally do it and charge an appropriate amount but I do have a full time job doing Photoshop/graphics stuff.

Re: Zymol Vintage Detail.

Thanks Rob!

Irf: Thanks man, would have been better if it was flat or sitting down hill.. Sheeting is good tho, even my foam isn't clinging as good anymore!

I do have a confession to make tho......

I'm going to get the WJ wrapped in matte black vinyl next Spring - so waxes/sealants will be useless to me, as will detailing pics for you guys!

Theres a place near me that has done a few very nice cars and their work is highly regarded so its going there. They can even make a X6 look good.

I would get it done now, but I want that air-ram hood too and can't have both at the moment. So I'm gonna hold of and get both at the same time next Spring - the saving has begun.

Re: Zymol Vintage Detail.

now my question is... what if a rock comes and hits the vinyl would that chip the vinyl? how do you fix it?

Re: Zymol Vintage Detail.

The vinyl does give a durable finish so most light/med chips wouldn't really mark it. This is actually one of the plus sides to it really.

If it did manage to tear a hole then you could leave it (taking care not to PW the area!) or get the panel/area redone. That would be pretty rare tho.
