Re: Autostick Question

Hey Joe (and others), I can't talk for any other rig except for the SRTs; BOTH my 06 and my 07 upshifted by themselves when in manual mode if I didn't shift it myself.

And as far as the 2nd gear start, it really isn't a 2nd gear start. You select "2" at a light and roll out. Your rig starts in 1st but shifts sooner into 2nd than it would if you selected "1". When you select "1" your rig will go to/near redline. If you select "2" your rig will not shift at as high an RPM when going into 2nd. Make sense??

When I took my 07 to the 1/8th mile track I put it in "1" and just mash the throttle I ran better times than when I left in "D".

Re: Autostick Question

I only have an 05 3.7. This thread had me curious so I just went outside, got in my car and started it, put it in drive then knocked it to the left, it went into 4, then every push over went to 3, 2, then 1. Then knocked it to the right and it went into 2, then 3, then 4, then D. There is no 5 on mine at all. This was done not moving from my driveway with my foot on the brake. While driving I know mine will not let me knock it down into a lower gear that will F up my car, I tried it before and it will just stay in that gear. Mine will also not upshift past a gear I set, but instead will cut the gas and keep it out of redline, something I have also tried before.

I think the SRT8 has a special feature because they prob figure people will be racing in it, and not a regular WK.

Re: Autostick Question

That is kinda what I was figuring as well (that the SRTs have this feature).

the transmission will not allow you to downshift or upshift if it is not safe for the transmission.

Thats odd, i know ive down shifted in to 2 and 1 and used the tranny to slow me down going down a big hill as well. I am sure i was not near the danger zone but it will deff trans brake if needed. I do know that it will not automatically up shift on non srt models as i have slipped with the shifter and forgot to up shift in to 4th and it bobbed on the red line for a split second. Whoops.

When ever i use auto stick i always drive it like when i had my manual trans and up shift and down shift like normal.
