Hand Held Key Fob

Recently, we purchased a previously owned 2011 Overland that had two Key Fobs. One needed a replacement battery which we purchased. It then worked perfectly. This week the one with a new battery stopped working. The battery has been checked and is OK. Does anyone have any idea why this happened and if so, what was the solution? Thanks a million.

Hi, Sometimes the battery gets wet, its kinda like when you break the seal that's it! it always get wet. Open it up and put battery & Fob in Rice to remove dampness. About 1 day is good, if rice turns a black colour or green the battery has a leak. Let me know what happens

Thank you for the suggestion. Do you know anyone who has tried this?

Re: Hand Held Key Fob

Yes alot of Ppl did, The electronic boards hold moisture around the components too, when ever opening a Fob or outdoor electronic box its always good to put a small amount of white silicone strip around the edge, use a tooth pic because the edge is small, but don't worry if it touches electronics it won't harm them. "Silicone is used often on Boards & Components in harsh enviroments" you can also clean contacts with alcohol swabs or lighter fluid, make sure it is very dry before using or turning on.
