key control

Hi everyone im from south texas im trying to get a 2007 jeep srt8 with 65XXX plus miles, but the guy that has it for sale the key control doesnt lock or unluck the doors also the remote start doesnt work (he only has one key)... he said that it was working before but that suddenty it stop working... Also he metion that few weeks ago the key control was acting kind of weird that when he would unlock the doors the truck would turn on... Do u all think the remote control needs batteries or its something electrical or previous owner took the truck and reset the key some were else and mess it up (bypass key control settings).... I test drove the truck and works super good i really liked the truck but i just want some feed back from people that has experience this or your oppinion... I just dont wants to buy something that right away I have to be spending more money on getting things fix.

Re: key control

The batteries could be low but more likely the little piece of metal that holds the battery could be broken.

Re: key control

Without two working keys you will need the dealership or locksmith to program an extra key. If you had two, you could do it yourself for free

Re: key control

thks alot..... the guy only has one set of keys. Also he added an extra fan in front of the radiator, 180 degrees thermostat, and a k&n filter would this improve the performance to keep the engine running cooler, this wont affect it (im talking about the fan).. but i will try to see if he can buy the battery to see if that fixes the problem.... with the experience of you owning a jeep srt8 have you had any engine or electrical problems... I want to buy this jeep not because i needed but just to have something sporty and to use on the weekends.... thks again for your info.

Re: key control

Buy a new sensor from the dealer or ebay, take your Jeep to a radial shop and they will replace the sensor. Since the sensor is attached to the inside of the rim the tire has to be removed. Easy. I think OEM sensor costs abt 70-80 EURO each. However, it could be the receiver malfunctioning...
