Re: Suggestions on changing oil in the SRT8

0w40 mobil1 every 6k is fine

some use the 5w40 or even 10w40 if you get 'lifter whine'

if u dont know what that is or havent heard it on ur jeep before, stick with the 0w40 lol

Re: Suggestions on changing oil in the SRT8

Don't forget to get the filter cap tool to remove the oil filter. It's hard to reach with a strap-type tool.

Re: Suggestions on changing oil in the SRT8

These 6.1 Hemi s need time to drain. With a warm engine, let it drain for at least 20 minutes. That is why I do it myself. Shops are always in a hurry to get you in and out and THREE FRIGGIN TIMES they have over filled my engine.

Nothing wrong with Royal Purple oil, good stuff. The biggest debate will be if it's worth the extra money.

Right now, I have Valvoline 20w-50 conventional racing oil in my Jeep. It's on sort of a break-in, I'll probably switch back to synthetic after the next oil change.

Get the K&N filter and use a 1" socket, even easier.

Re: Suggestions on changing oil in the SRT8

pretty sure that oil is 25k in normal service and 15k in severe service and everyone on this site is under severe service. it is still the best, but i wouldnt leave it in over 15k
