'15 JK Heater Issues

I've looked all through this site, online, offline, clothesline..., can't find anyone else mentioning this issue. So, we drove to Phoenix two weeks ago and heater worked fine. Had to rush back for family illness and the heater would only work on the far right setting (RED Dot), which would burn you up, so have to turn back down. Then, the cool/cold air would begin, no happy warm at all. Tried to set each knob in diff setting, but no resolve. Called dealer to see if any problems he knew of and of course, he said "NO".. Made appointment for next week, as we are heading back to AZ via Denver and don't care to spend more time playing with knobs in this 43K vehicle. I must say, the rest of the Sahara has been great for the ride. HELP!!!

Ouch. That is a terrible thing to happen, especially with winter having arrived and all.

Biggest thing that will help us to help you is knowing what climate control system you have; the auto temperature control or the manual setup?

Meant to put in that I have automatic temp control. 3 knobs, fan, temp, distribution. Fan n temp have an auto setting, but the temp can't be raised.

Re: '15 JK Heater Issues

Alright, I'll start by saying that my knowledge of automatic A/C is a bit limited, and it won't be for a while before I go through my A/C class at school

At any rate, I did some quick research for ya. If the problem is a mechanical issue, it could possibly be a jammed or improperly installed temperature vent, or the resister for the heater fan/aforementioned door circuit could be bad or failing. Also, your temperature control knob itself could possibly be bad.

I guess the main thing is, if the fan is working properly, maybe you could run the heat on full but put the fan on the lowest setting (just not on auto) and maybe adjust the distribution to be only on the floor and crack the windows a bit (assuming there isn't much snow falling for you ), at least until the dealer can take a look at it.

Re: '15 JK Heater Issues

Chances are good it could be a software issue. The GC's have had enough issues with the auto HVAC doing weird things. I'd have to suspect the JK's system isn't much different in that regard.

I am sure you have, but let me ask anyway. Have you put the left and right knobs to something other than "auto"?

I know from mine that when in full "auto", the heat will not turn itself 'on' until the engine is warm. I guess if there is any kind of sensor failure, the HVAC doesn't 'see' the engine warm, or doesn't 'see' that the passenger compartment needs heat, it would simply keep itself 'off'. If you switch to full manual mode, you're in control, and should be able to make the system do something.

Re: '15 JK Heater Issues

I was amazed how nice it worked, after leaving the house it would be nice n toasty before the highway. I've tried any and all settings, but the HOT, low fan, windows is best if really need heat. At lease were not without. Wife thinks if we set it about 75 in auto's, then start, it seems to be doable but not real warm and the air blows ??? somewhere. Worst time was coming thru flagstaff in snow storm and the windows would fog on some settings. If you wanta get into an argument with the other half, just get in a vehicle with screwed up heater in the winter. Local dealer is looking at it Friday. I wondered if all the posts on the GC might be similar.
