Question 2014 "leftover" negotiations

I've been lurking awhile on the 2015 thread but the temptation of a good deal is pulling me back to MY2014. A local dealer has a couple of Rubicons listed at $2K off MSRP. When I wandered in for a test drive I asked if there were special qualifications (military, grad, etc) to get the $2K off and was told no.

Here's the ask: is it reasonable to try and negotiate the $2K off of my affiliates pricing deal and then add the lease conquest cash (-$1,000) for a total of $3K off the affiliates price? I own 2 Fords and they were both negotiated this way but I'm not sure if Chrysler incentives work the same.

Thanks for the help in advance guys; I'm looking forward to owning my 1st wrangler after drooling for years.

If your dealer was only offering 2k off MSRP, he was blowing smoke up your you know what. Find a different dealer. I bought a Wrangler Sahara Unlimited in June with roughly $4600 knocked off the MSRP.

There is nothing wrong with using that a starting point for negotiations. IMHO, it isn't unreasonable, but the only thought I had, is if there is any dealer contribution for the lease cash.

Let me just add, all markets are different. If this dealer has no problem selling off their allocation of Wranglers for MSRP, they might have no real incentive to go much lower. In other words, it might be a seller's market.

Thanks banjonut, I agree that there are better deals to be had.....if only I wasn't so damn specific. What I'm looking for is apparently something rare in my market: rubicon, two doors, and manual transmission. At the end of last month the dealer had $3K off MSRP. If I can get that deal with with Affiliates pricing, I'd be happy.

Its something of a dance, there aren't too many of these vehicles because there's not a lot of demand for it (at least from what I'm reading on this forum) and the manual rubicon is rare. Most folks are happy with the auto tranny. However, because there's not a lot of demand those vehicles are still sitting on their lot after a month and with 2015's now starting to arrive, I'm going to try to work my deal. I don't mind having last year's model to save some dough.

I was able to get $1,462 off MSRP when I ordered my 2015. I used my affiliates reward as a starting point, emailed that quote to 4 other dealers to see if they would beat it, then came back to my dealer with a quote that was 3% below invoice and they matched it.

Re: 2014 "leftover" negotiations

My local dealer has 23 2015's on the lot and a fair amount of 2014's. I stopped in to test drive the 2014. I have a 2011 and had never driven the penstar engine. I made it clear I was just browsing. After the test drive, he said "do you have time, do you want to talk numbers?" so I said sure. On a 2014 Sport with a list price of 35.5K, I was told 32.9K. My sense is there was another 1K to 2K of savings to be had.
